Chelsea had their own fair share of injury issues last season but they have had a bit more luck this season with only Reece James and Romeo Lavia spending considerable time on the sidelines.
Heading into the second international break, only Reece James was yet to recover to full fitness following a hamstring issue but Chelsea may have to sweat over the fitness of one other key player over the coming weeks as French media outlet, L’Equippe have reported this morning that France international, Wesley Fofana who has been once again called up to the French national team is unlikely to feature for France in the upcoming internationals.
Fofana’s likely unavailability for France this week is linked to an injury that is yet to be known according to the media outlet.
Fofana played the entire 90 minutes of Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest yesterday but given his recent injury struggles having missed the entirety of last season with a serious injury, it is difficult to dismiss the reports emanation from France.
However, recall that in the previous internationals, Chelsea had opted that Fofana stay back at the club in order to fully comply with a recover protocol from last season’s injury with the club looking to closely manage his minutes.
Chelsea fans would hope that this should once again be the case as Wesley Fofana has been a key figure for the Blues this season, starting all their opening seven league games.
