Arsenal has reportedly submitted an impressive £43 million plus player offer to secure a two-time reigning player of the year also sought by Liverpool.

The Gunners have addressed their goalkeeper situation this summer by permanently signing David Raya from Brentford for £27 million.

Additionally, they have acquired defender Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna for £42 million. The next focus is on strengthening the midfield, with Arsenal’s pursuit of Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino nearing completion.

While Arsenal was expected to target a new striker this summer, the emergence of Kai Havertz in the No. 9 role, along with Gabriel Jesus serving as a solid backup, has reduced the need for a traditional striker.

Instead, recent reports from Italy suggest that Arsenal is targeting a more versatile forward capable of playing in multiple positions.

They have reportedly made a move for Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman. The 26-year-old did not have a standout performance during his previous spells in the Premier League with Everton, Fulham, and Leicester.

However, since joining Atalanta in 2022, the Nigeria international has significantly improved his game.

Lookman, who can play as a left winger, striker, or attacking midfielder, has recorded 32 goals and 18 assists in his two full seasons in Bergamo.

He was named Atalanta’s player of the year for both the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, and his contributions last season played a crucial role in helping Atalanta secure Europa League victory.

Liverpool has maintained a strong interest in Lookman following their unsuccessful attempt to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle.

A deal to bring Gordon back to Merseyside had been agreed in June, with Joe Gomez expected to move in the opposite direction.
