After leading the Arsenal under-18 team to an incredible 9-0 victory on Saturday afternoon, Chido Obi-Martin, a star of the club, has made headlines once again.The attacker, 16, has now scored 28 goals in his previous 16 U18 games.
He also scored four goals against Crystal Palace, four goals against Fulham, and five goals against West Ham United.
Obi-Martin has so surpassed Folarin Balogun’s record of 25 goals for the Arsenal U18s in a season, which was set during the 2018–19 campaign.
The teenager, who also scored an incredible eleven goals in a 14-3 victory over Liverpool under-16s back in November, will undoubtedly catch Mikel Arteta’s attention.
In addition, he played for the Gunners in two Premier League 2 substitute appearances in the UEFA Youth League encounter between Lens and Sevilla.
The Danish child relocated to the UK as a teenager after being born in Glostrup, a neighborhood outside of Copenhagen, in 2007.
He is qualified to play for Nigeria and has experience playing for the young national teams of Denmark and England.
With him scoring 10 goals in 14 games for their Under-17s, including four in a 6-2 victory over Norway, it appears more likely to be Denmark right now.
Jesper Mikkelsen, the young star’s international coach, gave Bold (via Tribal Football) an exciting assessment of the 16-year-old attacker’s potential while also discussing the attacker’s strongest attributes.
“Right now he is really dominant because of his physique, but I don’t think that is the only reason,” Mikkelsen stated. “His greatest quality—and worst obstacle—is his intense desire to score goals.
“He can occasionally play his own game, which is why I feel it can also be a disadvantage. He is so focused on finding opportunities that he overlooks the need to play with the other players.
Obi-Martin’s most recent exploits will only stir up more talk about his potential for the future, regardless of whether he decides to stay in Denmark or move to England or Nigeria.
