Chelsea were quiet in the January transfer window, which was not inkeeping with their business in windows since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital arrived at the club.
The Blues have spent more than £1billion since the American took over from Roman Abramovich.
They were not the only club to have a quiet January, though, with Financial Fair Play and the Premier League Profit & Sustainability Rules leading to clubs cutting their cloth accordingly when it came to transfers.
Everton have already had a six-point deduction, reduced from ten, while Nottingham Forest have also had a four-point deduction for breaching rules.
Chelsea have been told they face an even more severe punishment than either of those teams if they are found guilty, although the club maintains they remain compliant.
They will, however, have to be careful in the transfer market like their Premier League rivals. Mauricio Pochettino, if he is still in the job by then, will be looking to strengthen in the market.
The Chelsea boss has already hinted that transfers could solve a number of the problems he has already faced at Stamford Bridge.
A creative player is desperately needed. Whilst Arsenal enjoy the output of Martin Odegaard and Man City feed off Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, it seems Chelsea are crying out for that orchestrator.
Leon Bailey could be the answer. The Jamaican has had an impressive campaign for Champions League-chasing Aston Villa, scoring eight goals and laying on eight assists.
His contract at Villa Park runs until 2027, having just signed a new deal, but his impressive form has led to some talk of moving on up. And speaking on the Let’s Be Honest podcast, he opened the door to a move to Chelsea, or even Arsenal.
He said: “You have big teams in England, they call themselves the big six. The Arsenals and the Chelseas. It has always been my dream to play in the Premier League and I am right now.
“Who wouldn’t want to go to a massive team? Especially coming out of Jamaica, do you know how big that is for the country? Especially being who I am as well.
“It would shine more light and that has been my focus whenever overseas. It is to use my platform to be able to shine light on the country and the young talents. It’s difficult for us Jamaicans to even make it to Europe.”
