The outstanding player for Chelsea, according to Gary Cahill, has “bags of potential” and is currently the “best player.”

Gary Cahill names Chelsea’s star who is showing ‘bags of potential’ and ‘best player at the moment.

Former Chelsea defender Gary Cahill believes Conor Gallagher is one of the club’s best players with Levi Colwill demonstrating why he has ‘bags of potential’.

The Blues have endured another disappointing season with Mauricio Pochettino criticised by fans on more than one occasion this year.

11th in the table with European qualification almost out of reach, Chelsea have little to show after spending over £1billion in transfer window since Todd Boehly’s takeover in 2022.
The club’s young stars have offered some optimism however with Cole Palmer thriving in west London following his summer arrival from Manchester City.

Homegrown stars Gallagher and Colwill have also caught the eye of former defender Cahill, who won two Premier Leagues, two FA Cups and a Champions League during his seven years at Stamford Bridge.

Cahill also believes the midfield partnership of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, which cost over £200million to assemble, is ‘getting stronger’, with a group of young players still adapting to the demands of the club.
‘I’ve enjoyed watching Levi [Colwill], who is developing all the time. He has got bags and bags of potential,’ Cahill told the Evening Standard.
‘I like [Conor] Gallagher, who I think is one of the best players at the moment. I like the way he goes about his game, his pressing, his professionalism, and him just being a great footballer.

‘I believe his attributes can rub off on the rest of the squad. That would be great.

‘I think Enzo [Fernandez] and [Moises] Caicedo’s midfield partnership is coming on and getting stronger.

‘Cole Palmer is having a fantastic season and is a shining light. I think [Axel] Disasi and [Malo] Gusto have adapted to Chelsea.’

Chelsea have fought their way into the FA Cup semi-finals where they take on Manchester City in April.

‘The cups have been important,’ Cahill added. ‘The FA Cup is another chance to have that day out, to develop while trying to win a trophy here and there. This young squad needs to develop before seeing where they can get to.’
