Why Arsenal and Liverpool’s title fight may be set to shift is explained by Jamie Carragher.

Jamie Carragher believes the “biggest weekend” in the Premier League title race is on the horizon for Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.

All three sides will play away from home this weekend, starting with City’s 12:30pm kick-off at Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

Arsenal are then in action at Brighton at 17:30, meanwhile Liverpool face a daunting trip to Manchester United the following day.

The Gunners regained top spot in the division after beating Luton Town on Wednesday, though the picture at the summit could all change in the coming days as the three teams battling it out for glory each face tough tests.

Sharing his view on the significance of this upcoming period, Carragher said: “I think this weekend is the biggest weekend of the run-in [for the title], all three teams [challenging for the league] are away.

“Manchester City go to Palace in the early kick-off, which won’t be easy. Arsenal go to Brighton, that won’t be an easy game, so if one of them drop points and the other two win, it will feel like a big swing. If Liverpool win at Old Trafford, it’s big and will give them a boost.”

Liverpool have the chance to move back to first place this evening when taking on Sheffield United at Anfield, a match they are expected to win in comfortable fashion.

Jurgen Klopp admitted on Wednesday that he was not aware City were facing off against Aston Villa and would not be tuning into the game.

Acknowledging such an approach will not be the case for him as regards Liverpool’s showdown, Mikel Arteta said: “I knew. I knew Man City were playing tonight!

He’s won a lot so maybe that’s for him. I know they are playing tomorrow against Sheffield at home and we will be watching it because I love to watch top teams play and that’s what I do.
