Ally McCoist says that he has “opened my eyes,” but he still believes that Arsenal will win the Premier League title.

Ally McCoist has shared his prediction for Sunday’s huge Premier League title face-off between Manchester City and Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium

Mikel Arteta’s side will start the day at the top of the table, ahead of Liverpool on goal difference a point above champions City.

But the top three could look completely different by the end of the day, as City and Arsenal lock horns straight after Jurgen Klopp’s side host Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield.

Speaking to talksport BET, Rangers legend McCoist said: “At the start of the season I fancied Manchester City for the title and I’m not going to change that now.

However, I had my eyes opened by Liverpool’s performance against City. I haven’t seen a City side outplayed like that for the past few years and now you have to take notice of Liverpool, who have lost just two games in the league, one of which they shouldn’t have.

“I think having another two teams competing for the title might suit Arsenal, rather than going head-to-head against just one like they did with City last season.

They’ve come through a bit of a sticky period, after losing at home to West Ham and away to Fulham, and they’re out the other side of it now.”

Despite acknowledging the high performance level of Liverpool, McCoist still believes City will emerge victorious over Arsenal this weekend.

His comments come as the Gunners prepare to head to Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

“I’ve changed my mind on how I think Sunday’s game is going to play out a few times already. It will be a great game and it will go some way, but not all the way, to deciding the title.

Liverpool are at home to Brighton and it is getting to the stage now where no one can afford to slip up. Home advantage will play a part on Sunday and I expect two home wins for City and Liverpool.

“I think City will beat Arsenal on Sunday and that will spur them on to go and win the Premier League title.

Liverpool were excellent against them but City have been over the course and distance on numerous occasions when it comes to winning the league. They will find a way.”

Depending on Sunday’s result at the Etihad, the title race could take a major turn. If Arsenal pull off a victory, they would enter the final stretch with great momentum.

On the other hand, a win for City would drag them back into the mix and deal a heavy blow to Arsenal. A draw isn’t out of reach either, which could aid Liverpool in their quest to top the table by the weekend’s close.
