Arsenal will be in the market for a new striker in the summer transfer window. That is despite the Gunners smashing 33 goals in eight Premier League games before the international break kicked in.
Mikel Arteta’s side have certainly found their shooting boots in 2024 and have gone from a position of weakness in the Premier League title race, to one of strength.
They now have the best goal difference between themselves, Liverpool and Manchester City, which could be crucial when it comes to the crunch.
Arsenal lead the way at the top of the table on goal difference from Liverpool and one point clear of City.
They take on City at the Etihad Stadium this Sunday in a crucial showdown that could go some way to determining who wins the crown this season.
Whether the Gunners go on to claim the title or not will not change their approach in the summer transfer window.
A new striker remains high on the list of priorities, with Gabriel Jesus suffering injures and not hitting the back of the net with regularity, while question marks remain over Eddie Nketiah’s role in the team and future, as well as Kai Havertz’s position on the pitch under Arteta.
Viktor Gyokeres has been the name most heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent weeks, although there have also been links with Victor Osimhen and Santiago Gimenez.

The Nottingham Forest frontman has nine goals to his name this season, despite not being the first choice name up top.
He is having a very good season and would be a cheap and unlikely option at 32 years old.

The Burnley striker on loan from Chelsea has four goals to his name this season. Another who is not the first choice frontman for his club and was guilty of one of the misses of the season before the international break.

Zeki Amdouni – 52.5% shooting accuracy
Another Burnley player on the list. Can play as a forward or as an attacking midfielder, which may not be what Mikel Arteta wants given he has Kai Havertz already.
A young player with plenty of potential, who would certainly fit the Arsenal mould.

A player Arsenal have been interested in in the past, having looked at him at Real Sociedad in 2022 before Newcaslte swooped to sign him.

The Manchester United striker has hit a rich vein of form in recent weeks, having taken a while to settle into life in the Premier League.

Another Newcastle striker on the list – and another who has been linked with Arsenal in the past, but at his age now – 32 – looks to have missed the boat for a move to a bigger team.

Wolves forward has enjoyed a fruitful season with nine goals to his name. Has taken more shots this season than anyone on this list – 59 – but is accurate with more than half of them.

Another Nottingham Forest frontman on the list – there are certain clubs getting it very right when it comes to shots on target this season.
