Brentford’s manager, Thomas Frank, has come to the defense of Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale following the error that led to Brentford’s goal in Saturday’s Premier League match.
Frank opted to commend Brentford’s Yoane Wissa for exerting significant pressure on Ramsdale, which ultimately resulted in the mistake. Despite this error, Ramsdale showcased his prowess by making two remarkable saves in the second half to maintain Arsenal’s level position.
Frank expressed his belief that such a mistake could have occurred even to Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper, David Raya. When questioned after the game if he had instructed his players to intentionally target Ramsdale, Frank clarified during his post-match press conference:
“I actually conveyed to Ramsdale that I do not believe he deserves criticism for the mistake. I attribute it more to the extraordinary pressure exerted by Wissa. Observing the intensity of his acceleration, a similar situation could have unfolded with David Raya.”
