Brentford: “My players gave Arsenal a hard time and we limited their chances, so we should have won.” Coach says anything despite the Emirates defeat.

Thomas Frank, in the aftermath of his team’s defeat at the Emirates Stadium, characterized Arsenal as the most in-form squad in the Premier League. Despite the setback, his team, the Bees, displayed a commendable performance against Mikel Arteta’s high-scoring Arsenal, limiting their opportunities throughout the match.

The opening goal came from Declan Rice with a well-executed header in the first half, but a blunder from Aaron Ramsdale allowed the opponents to equalize before halftime. It wasn’t until the 86th minute that Arsenal secured the victory, with Kai Havertz scoring another header for Arteta’s side.

The discussion surrounding Havertz’s presence on the field to clinch the winning goal despite being on a yellow card sparked debate. Frank himself suggested that the German should have been sent off for diving. Nonetheless, the Bees manager expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance against what he considers the best team in the Premier League based on current form.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Frank emphasized how his team limited Arsenal’s scoring opportunities during the game. He commended his players for their defensive prowess against an Arsenal side that had scored over 100 goals in their previous seven matches.

Despite expectations that Arsenal would dominate, Brentford made it challenging for them. However, Arteta’s satisfaction lies in his team’s ability to overcome such a tough challenge and rise to the top of the Premier League standings. Arsenal supporters are likely mindful of the previous season’s fixture and its implications on their title aspirations.
